About Rick Lannoye
Rick Lannoye is a social reformer, anthropology enthusiast and religious philosopher. Time and again, he has challenged the Status Quo to bring society’s demands on human behavior into coherence with science and reason. Recently, he’s turned his attention toward the growing influence of Christian Fundamentalism, or “Pseudo Evangelicalism,” and has recently completed his second book: Hell? No! Why You Can Be Certain There’s No Such Place As Hell.
A Personal Note From Rick
Since so many ask, “Are you a born again Christian?” Let me answer as best I can. In recent years, the terms “born again,” “Christian,” “saved,” and “Evangelical” have come to mean something very different from when each of them was first used. Today, these words are often used to describe those who believe in a God of torture, a political philosophy that borders on fascism and a social stance that exalts the wealthy and well placed over the less fortunate. Consequently, I am not at all comfortable with these labels, and if Jesus were here in the flesh today, I believe he wouldn’t like them either.
That said, if I must be labeled, I would prefer to be called a disciple or student of Jesus. I don’t claim to be different or special, to have the ability to hear God’s voice or have any knowledge that is available only to an enlightened few. What I know about Jesus is what I have obtained through a lot of hard work, much of it tedious, reading, studying and evaluating all the sources I could find, to get at the truth of what he actually taught through his words and deeds.
I’m happy to share what I have learned about the real Jesus of Nazareth, and hope to continue exposing the many distortions of his life and message.
